Governance

Our Academy is part of the Diocese of Coventry Multi Academy Trust and the AGC is part of the governance structure of the Trust which is responsible for overseeing strategic decisions of the school. The governance structure for the trust as a whole is outlined in the governance structure documents here. As an Academy Governance Committee, we work in close partnership with the Executive Headteacher, Head of School, and Senior Leadership Team to ensure every child receives the best possible education. It is our responsibility to support, challenge, ask questions and ultimately represent the school community. The Academy Governance Committee acts as a ‘critical friend’ to the Senior Leadership Team, questioning and challenging decisions in a constructive and professional way.

Academy Governance Committees have key roles in providing support, monitoring and challenge in relation to educational experience and performance; church, community and stakeholder engagement; and supporting alignment with Trust strategy, approach, ethos and values. The AGC Members meet regularly, visit the school when possible, and during special events.  As a team, we are able to support the school to operate efficiently and make the best possible use of resources as we strive to provide outstanding opportunities for teaching, learning and personal development.

As a Church of England Primary Academy (part of the Diocese of Coventry Multi-Academy Trust), the AGC Members support the school to be inclusive and welcoming in everything it does.

Below, you will find details of how our Academy Governance Committee (AGC) is structured, including the names, categories, responsibilities and terms of appointment for each AGC Member.

Governor Meeting Attendance Log

My name is Kim Docking. I am a Community Governor and became a member of Stretton Academy Committee in October 2022. I am delighted to be the current Chair of Governors at our school. Our role as governors is to know our school well and support and challenge the school in its efforts to continually improve and deliver the best outcomes for our children and their families.

I have worked in Education for over thirty years, initially as a teacher, then as a headteacher of a Church of England primary school, executive headteacher and finally CEO of Inspire Education Trust. Prior to headship, I was a leading English teacher in Coventry and a link tutor for Warwick University supporting trainee teachers. I became a National Leader of Education in 2013 and as such supported a number of schools in a variety of contexts.

I love retirement and having the time to spend with my grandchildren, family and friends and indulging in my hobbies of walking, swimming and cooking,

I have passion and love for education and firmly believe that every child is entitled to receive a high-quality education, which meets their needs and prepares them for the next stage in their lives and that they should enjoy school, have fun and make special memories.

My name is Carl Fitzpatrick and I have held the position of Community Governor here at Stretton since 2019.  I work as a Process Manager for a housing association based in Coventry.  My main role is to ensure that business process within the voids and lettings department run smoothly and effectively with the end result being able to let properties to the homeless and vulnerable as quickly as possible and to a good standard.  It is a very rewarding role as every penny of profit made is reinvested back into the business to help solve the housing crisis.  I am married with 3 daughters,  all of whom now attend Stretton. I absolutely love sports from rugby, cricket and, of course, football.  My hobbies include playing and managing a tag rugby team.  It is an honour and privilege to be able to work with the School Leadership Team and the other Governors to make Stretton a truly great environment for learning.

My name is Beverley Scott and I am a Foundation AGC Governor at Stretton.  I originally come from Rugby and attended Harris C of E School before relocating to Coventry over 30 years ago.  As a Foundation Governor, my aim is to make difference by adding value from previous and hopefully new experiences.  My background is in HR and I am currently employed as a Lead HR Business Partner, working for DHL for over 21 years. I  have extensive HR experience ranging from new business start-ups/TUPE/restructures/project management/People Management/Engagement etc. I enjoy new challenges and seeing continuous progression.  I am so proud to be part of this team and I hope to add value and provide support wherever possible.

I have been married to Alvin for 18 years who previously played professional Basketball Player for England, Birmingham Bullets and Leicester Riders. I am very active and my hobbies include baking and working out.
