Year 1 Learning Pack
Welcome to Year 1!
Do you have any ideas for this page? Why not let your Teacher know!
Years 1 & 2 had an informative day out on Monday 26th March at the Herbert Museum and Art Gallery. They were given a walking tour as well as a hands-on craft-making session. Here are some pictures:
World Book Day 3rd March 2016
On Thursday 14th January, Years 1 and 2 were graced with the presence of Lady Godiva and Peeping Tom! They visited as part of our topic entitled Lady Godiva and our Locality. The children delighted in dressing as 'characters' from the famous story and acting out important scenes. One of the highlights was Lady Godiva riding on her beautiful white horse! Here are some photos:
The children in Years 1 and 2 have been working with an artist from Warwick University since January. They have made various visits to the university, seeing sculpture trails and colour trails, and the artist has been to school on several occasions and worked with the children on a piece of art work.
This is going to be displayed on an outside wall of the school and will be unveiled during parents evening on Wednesday 15th July at 3.30pm. We would love you to come along and see for yourself what the children have accomplished!
Red Nose Day Friday 13th March. Year One had great fun taking part in the school's day-long dance-a-thon by joining in with Mrs Samra's bollywood dance session. Have a look at our clip!
On Wednesday 14th January, Year One enjoyed some very active story telling courtesy of the Freshwater Theatre Company. The children had great fun taking part and experiencing familiar tales told in a different way. Have a look at our photos:
October 2014: Parents! Can we please encourage you to fill out an application form for Free School Meals, if you have not already done so.
We realise that as a KS1 pupil, your child will automatically qualify for the new Universal Free School Meals, but if you are entitled to them because of your financial circumstances or immigration status, then the school receives extra funding for your child, in the amount of £1300 per year. This funding can then go towards school trips or new books or extra curricular activities that we would not otherwise be able to provide.
Your child does not even have to take the school meals if they prefer to bring packed lunches, b ut we cannot claim the funding without your help! We have plenty of application forms available in school and they only take a couple of minutes for you to fill in - we will do the rest! And if you need any help completing them, we would be happy to do so, just come and see us in the school office. Thank you.
