The Nest

Welcome to The Nest!

Mr Bird and his Nest children and staff spent their forest school session this October week collecting leaves of different sizes and colours. They then used them to create great leaf characters, as you can see. The children really used their imaginations and definitely enjoyed making them!

To celebrate Chinese New Year on 5th February, the Nest children learned the traditional story of the Great Race, before having a go at using chopsticks and playing some games with them. Mrs Taylor was really concentrating on picking up cotton wool balls with hers, very tricky!

Parent Session Friday 12th October

Nest children and their carers enjoyed learning about fruits from all around the world and then cutting them up to make a delicious fruit salad to share. Not sure Mr Bird's coconut-opening technique was working very well! Here are our photos:

Papier mache World Cups!

On Friday 18th May, The Nest children enjoyed making icing and then decorating biscuits to celebrate the Royal Wedding. Have a look at their photos:

Here are some pictures from our activities celebrating Chinese New Year!

We have learnt the story of Chinese New Year, practiced using chop sticks as well as trying out some Chinese food!

On Tuesday 19 th December, Mr Bird, Mrs Goodwin and Josh Brown were invited to attend the Keep Willenhall Tidy awards evening, where children from schools in the local area gathered to see who had won the local poster competition.  We are thrilled to tell you that Josh came 1st overall, collecting a special trophy from the lord mayor! Over 100 posters were entered and Josh's poster will soon be displayed all over the local area on buildings, bins and lamp-posts. Well done Josh, a VIP evening as you can see!

These are some images from our literacy learning this week. We have been reading the bad tempered ladybird.

Josh, Kade and Suraya are using actions to retell the story using a story map.
Lewis and Logan are sequencing the images into chronological order.

Here are some photos of children from The Nest with their lovely artwork created using real leaves foraged in our forest school...

Welcome to The Nest's area of our website. Mr Bird has a small group of children with him in our Nurture Room for learning and activities throughout the day. Please check here in future for updates and photos.

For now, here are a couple of pictures from a pizza-making afternoon last week!
