Inspiration and ambition

An important element of our science lessons is enabling children to see real scientists at work in a variety of different contexts. We offer this via filmed interviews as well as by study of the contributions and discoveries of great scientists through history. We also seek to provide children with the opportunity to see scientists in school (e.g. in partnership with local secondary schools and universities). Our aim is that children will develop an excitement for science and an appreciation of the diverse opportunities available to them. By the time they reach Year 6, they will recognise that Science is a dynamic field of study offering many different avenues for theoretical and applied research and employment. They will also understand that Science is a field in which boundaries are constantly shifting and that they could become future pioneers - if this is their ambition.
