Enrichment opportunities are an important part of the Stretton English Curriculum which aim to enhance the knowledge and skills within the curriculum. Planned enrichment opportunities aim to provide new experiences as well as further promote a love of reading and writing.  This year, all children will again take part in the Spark! School Book Awards where they will read, review and rate a range of exciting new texts.  World Book Day also provides another opportunity for the whole school to celebrate all things reading through focusing on a special text.   Children will also take part in additional reading opportunities including:

• developing the Summer Reading Challenge for 2023
• National Poetry Day and other book themed days 
• No Outsiders scheme – story texts for discussion
• Participation in other review/award schemes e.g. The Royal Society Young People's book prize in Science
• author workshops
• the annual Coventry Library Quiz for gifted and talented pupils
• Opportunities to become reading ambassadors
• Theatre visits/experiences
